Many people in permanent jobs wonder what life is like out in the wild without the safety of a regular paycheck. Here we'll attempt to discuss some of the issues that crop up and how we solve them in a snap or stumble through then wish we'd done things another way.
My company is webWise Network Consultants and we're based in Sydney, Australia. Our goal is to become a technology wholesaler providing the nuts and bolts used by other technology companies and IT backoffices around the world. Currently our revenue comes from two sources 1) Sales of our products and technology and 2) consulting. We hope to be doing much more of 1 and much less of 2. Make no mistake 2 is great for cashflow, but long term not where we want to be. Why? because building things that people use is a great feeling and from an effort perspective we put in a lot of effort up front and reap rewards for a long time.
Don't expect an update every single day, one of our big problems is time management. Do we write code or talk about it?
